Makeup for Work: Simple Plum ft. Lorac Pro Palette 2

28 Jul

Hello, all! Another quick look for you today, but as I mentioned I’m rather behind in the interesting posts. Figured I’d post it at any rate, as some people don’t wear crazy rainbow things on a daily basis 🙂

plum collageI was having fun with the Lorac Pro 2 again. I am really enjoying the plum color (aptly named Plum) because of how muted down it is. Believe it or not, the only other decent purples I own are from Sugarpill. Yeah. Not muted. plum collage 2This technique with the purple could be substituted with a dark green like Jade or blue like Navy to achieve a similar effect on different eye colors. plum collage 3 Oh! My face! So close!plum collage 4Products used:

♦ Lorac Pro Palette 2: Plum, Beige, Snow, Nectar, Buff (my review here)

♦ Physicians Formula Eye Booster

♦ Covergirl LashBlast Mascara

♦ NYX Butter Lipgloss in Strawberry Parfait

Shoot me a comment if you enjoyed this look or if you have any suggestions for future tutorials, reviews, and tags; I’d love to hear them!

REVIEW: Lorac Pro Palette 2

26 Jul

Hello, all! I decided to not be super late on the bandwagon and picked up the second Lorac Pro Palette (my review of the first Pro Palette here)lorac 2 collage 3

Packaging on this is the same no-nonsense sleek cardboard packaging as the first Pro Palette, but grey instead of black. Easier to tell them apart, I suppose, which is always nice.

Swatches were done with one finger swipe on bare skin. Check out those shimmery shades! I nearly had a heart attack when I swatched them.

Neutral Eyeshadow Palette Smackdown: Part 1

28 Apr

Whoa. That sounded dramatic.

But really, I have so many neutral palettes. Why not talk about them and share the glory?

1. Urban Decay Naked Palette

(My review here.)

Yep, Naked the First and only for me, as I have found love at first swatch (you should’ve seen me in Sephora. It was like I’d gotten a perfect SAT score…which sadly, I did not). Granted, this palette is not very versatile. More mattes, please! But the colors are gorgeous and each is unique, so I forgive. The packaging does irk me a bit, although I know they’ve fixed this in the Naked 2 and 3. Fake velvet though? Really? Dust magnet all up in here. I wouldn’t take it traveling, but it is one gorgeous lil thang.

One thing I love about this palette that I don’t see a lot is the variety of warm and cool tones. The Naked 1 is known as the warm-toned neutrals out of the 3, but it has a few cool tones in there, too! Darkhorse is greeny-brown, Toasted is a pinky-brown, Gunmetal is a blue-silver just to keep things interesting…come on, it’s amazing.

And because I like lists…

Pigmentation: 5/5

Versatility: 3.5/5

Packaging: 3.5/5

Overall: 4/5

Do I reach for it? Almost every day!
