So I was screwing around with glitter and this happened.
So yeah…these’d be suitable for a New Year’s party. 😀 As for me…I’m going to rewatch the end of Supernatural Season 1 and eat way too many open-faced sandwiches.
Reviews and swatches incoming!
I received a few items of makeup for Christmas (thank you so much, Bef and Amanda), and I’ve been rather bad about not buying makeup lately, so I figured it was only right to swatch and review everything for you guys!
Lorac Unzipped Palette
OH MY GOD I’M DYING IT’S SO BEAUTIFUL
I got the Lorac Pro Palette a couple months ago and have been loving it, but I feel like there are too many matte shades and the colors aren’t as warm as I’d like my neutrals to be. I’m young and I wear glasses- I like to sparkle obnoxiously. Plus I find myself using the same 3 pans constantly, and they aren’t very big. The pans on the Unzipped Palette are HUGE (at least a square inch) and will last me a lot longer. So far I’ve only swatched the shades, but the texture and pigmentation are fantastic and I’m so excited to create some looks with this. 😀 I think I can hold out on the Naked 3 as long as I have this…famous last words, Olive. An in-depth review of this coming soon!
Sonia Kashuk 5-Piece Brush Couture Set
These brushes are pretty flippin’ great. The face brush isn’t the softest ever, but it’s great for applying brush or bronzer because of its smaller size. I haven’t used the angled foundation brush yet, but it’s very soft. The blending brush is absolutely fantastic, I don’t know what I’ve done without it all these years. The medium eye brush is a bit too big for my eyes, but I could use it for browbone highlight or something…it’s soft at any rate. I haven’t come across a pointed brush like the last one, and I’ve been using it to apply eyeshadow along my lashline with great success. And the handles are adorable, so obviously that seals the deal. 🙂
Lip Products and Eyeshadow Bases
I’m very pleased with all of the eye bases, but my favorites are the Rimmel Scandaleyes Shadow Sticks. The pigmentation and texture are great, and they’re at least water-resistant if not completely waterproof. Believe it or not I will find many uses for blue eyeshadow bases. 🙂
Ok, it’s official: NYX lip products rule the world (my world, anyway). I’m running out of positive adjectives to describe makeup today, but they are the bloody best. And “Disco Playground” is the coolest lipgloss name ever! It looks amazing over red lipstick, which is why the swatch is pink-tinged…oops. The pigmentation and sparkle are incredible; I recommend clicking the picture for full-sized amazingness. I wasn’t as happy with Velvet Ropes as the blue sparkle is virtually nonexistent when applied to the lips. Crystal Water has a gorgeous lavender luminescence that wasn’t properly captured in photographs, but that too vanishes when applied. Ah well, it’s so fun to look at. Tea Rose, Buttery Nude, and Sugar Plum are the perfect MLBB shades for me depending on what sort of lip product I feel like wearing. A+. I’m thrilled.
e.l.f. 96-Piece Geometric Eye Palette
e.l.f. has really stepped up their game with this palette! I generally wouldn’t go for e.l.f. eyeshadows given their track record in suckiness (ex. their 140 Palettes) but they’re just so cheap and I couldn’t resist. The quality of this palette is really good, and not just for the price. The shadows are very soft and pigmented, which means a lot of fallout if you don’t use a sticky base, but the colors are gorgeous and completely worth the extra effort. The only con of this palette is the design because the smaller pans can be difficult to get color out of. It does look pretty snazzy, though…
Here’s a few swatches. Impressive, no?
This haul was a monster! I think I’ll steer clear of Target’s makeup aisles for a while…my wallet concurs. See anything ya fancy?
Cheers everyone, and happy holidays!
I spent the past few days with my favorite Jewish family, so I kind of forgot about it…*munches Chinese food guiltily*
Yesterday I volunteered wrapping gifts at the mall for last-minute shoppers. After 8 hours, I got pretty pro, and my feet were about ready to walk off by themselves. Besides a hideously overbearing supervisor (and my feet), it was a fairly enjoyable experience. But moral of the story: Don’t be that person shopping for gifts on Christmas Eve…and if you ever need someone to wrap your holiday gifts, call me 🙂
Anyways, I must get back to the mountains of snow in my driveway, but have a merryhappysafejoyousawesometastic Christmas! Cheers!
