Lily-Inspired Makeup Tutorial

17 Aug

I saw this gorgeous lily in my backyard and immediately had that thought that makeup people have when they see pretty things: “Oooo, pretty. Must do that on my face.” Here’s my lily-inspired look!

Of course like an idiot I forgot to take pictures, but here’s a lily lookalike:

This was my first attempt at a look: DSCN2341

I wanted more of a gradient of pink to red and a more defined shape (like a petal!) so I had another go:

DSCN2350     DSCN2353 DSCN2354 DSCN2355  DSCN2360 DSCN2361This one reminded me of a lily a lot more than the first look 🙂 What do you think?

Products used:

– e.l.f. Eyelid Primer

– NYX Jumbo Pencil in Milk

– BH Cosmetics 120 Color Palette: shimmery yellow, matte neon pink, shimmery pink-red, matte red, matte bright green, shimmery white

– Milani Liquid Eye Liner in Black

– No7 Stay Precise Felt Tip Eye Liner in Brown

– Covergirl Lashblast Mascara in Black

1. Prime the eyes.

2. Cover the entire lid, inner corner, and lower lashline with a white eyeshadow base. Blend the base out with your finger.

3. With a flat eyeshadow brush, pat a shimmery white shadow on the inner third of the lid.

4. With the same brush, pat a matte neon pink shadow on the rest of the lid. With the edge of the brush, cut the crease and bring the pink shadow in toward the shimmery white.

5. Apply a dark pink shadow to the outer part of the lid and start creating the petal shape (see pictures above) with the side of the brush.

6. With a fluffy crease brush, apply a red shadow on the outer part of the eye to define the hollow just above the crease.

7. Blend the colors together with a fluffy brush.

8. Highlight the inner corner with a shimmery yellow and the browbone with white.

9. With an angled eyeliner brush, outline the petal shape with the white base.

10. Cover the base with a white eyeshadow.

11. Line the upper lashline with brown liquid liner and create speckles on the outer part of the petal shape.

12. With a smudge brush, line the lower lashline with the neon pink shadow and blend into the yellow.

13. Line the lower waterline with the white base and apply a bright green shadow over the top.

14. Tightline the upper lashline with black eyeliner.

15. Apply your favorite mascara and you’re finished! Whew, lots of steps 😀

I hope you enjoyed this look and tutorial! If you have any suggestions for future looks, let me know in the comments below. Cheers!

I originally thought your makeup was going to be inspired by the guinea pig
